  1. When you're fishing for channel cats, what's your favorite fly.
  2. Years ago I bought Hooks for the Fly, by William E. Schmidt. While it might be the hook manufacturers enemy, it's a terrific book. It provides you with a list of characteristics for each hook by manufacturer, and a cross reference of hooks, so that even the novice can tell if he needs to go buy a hook to tie a pattern, or if her already owns a similar hook by a different manufacturer.
  3. I use the Wiss Quick Clips too. I am looking for a pair of scissors for tiny trim up jobs.
  4. How much did your old friend cost? I still have a Price vice I travel with---never an easier vise to insert a hook.
  5. How long should I expect for a camera to last? That may sound stupid, but the only nice camera I've owned I "drowned" after owning it for about 60 days. Since then I've used one use waterproof cameras and one use regular cameras that have a flash.
  6. That says it all--I'm a total amateur, and want a simple camera It must be waterproof, as I've already ruined one camera in an Ozark stream. BUT--I also want it to take pictures of the grandkids. I don't have any pals who are photographers. Please, help.
  7. [/b]OH, MY GOD--WHAT A GREAT MAGAZINE!!! IT JUST CAME IN SATURDAY'S MAIL AND MY WIFE IS DRAGGING ME OFF TO A BARBEQUE!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK HOME!
  8. I prefer the cam closure. But then my travel vice is a Price vice. Anyone remember the screw adjustment on the vice that closed the jaws?

    Like New Music?

My Pandora specializes in Nat King Cole and Scott Joplin------------great tying music.
  10. Rusty, If your girl friend lasts as long as that vice, you may have two life long love affairs.
  11. First I went to flyfishingmagazines.com--then to Fly Tyer. To archives---and yes I believe it's A.K.'s vice.
  12. This is killin' me-------so I've spent the last hour scouring the house for the only issue of Fly Tyer magazine. So, I'll guess that it's the A.K. Best vise, which he developed. I talked to A. K. when he was at the Heart of America Fly Fishers program last spring. There is a possibility that it will reenter the market.
  13. Stackpole published a book: Hooks for the Fly by William E. Schmidt. It's the most complete reference of hook type, and comparison. It has a nice accompanying explanation about hooks. They haven't updated it since 2000.
  14. I believe that the vice you're looking at is the Danvice. If you'll do a search for Danvice, you'll find numerous favorable reviews. Some of those reviews are from this site.
