tmartin412 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2017 Put a new arrow in the quiver yesterday. Needed something to sit between my Sage Vantage 4 wt. and my Orvis Clearwater salt 9 wt. Picked up the Orvis Recon 9.0 6 wt. My parents sent along some gift cards early and couldn't resist. Took the rod out the other day in Delaware and avoided getting skunked.

Flat Rock native 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2017 Go Owls. Are you heading down to St Petersberg? If you have Bowl game tickets, there is probably some salt or other fishing nearby. You may get another chance on that fox. More photos welcome any time.

Apparently a Gasparilla is some sort of nickname for a pirate. Who knew!
mikechell 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2017 "Named for pirate Jose Gaspar, who terrorized the coastal waters of West Florida during the late 18th and early 19th centuries ..." Gasparilla was his nickname. Florida history ... and I hated history in school. Still do, actually.
fshng2 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2017 Gasparilla..sounds like it should be a name for a fly pattern or even a certain beverage (sarsaparilla with a shot of tequilla).
