  1. Hello All, I am new to blogging (is this blogging?), and generally spend my free time trying to ty flies or get my "honey-do" list punched out so I can fish. As such, I have avoided these types of sites for fear of getting hooked and spending more time on my butt (office job). So, I will make this as short as I can to test these waters. I have found a drift boat that is up for blind bid and am wondering about size, shape, construction, etc. It is made by Fenger and is a "Mackenzie Drifter" style. Fenger made boats in Driggs, Idaho but is nowhere to be found when I google the details - I think out of business. In any case, the boat is fiberglass with a wood core (at least that is what i see in the floor where the paint is chipped off exposing the clear resin). The boat just over 16 ft long, maybe 7 feet wide ahead of the oarsmans seat, with a profile that starts deep and gets very shallow at the back. i was sort of saving my pennies and thinking i wanted a 14ft raft with rowing frame and casting deck (better access to thin water), but am now wondering if i can get this boat for less than half the price of a raft......maybe it would be good? i do lots of fishing on midsize streams, and am recently getting into stealheading. any advice would be welcome, good starter boat? any opinions/knowledge of fenger boats? etc. thanks
