I'm new to tying so this may be a silly question but....what are some techniques that help the fly swim with the hook facing up? Thanks for any pointers.

Is the mylar tubing something you buy at a fly shop or can it be found elsewhere and salvaged from some other product like cable or wire.? Very nice flies!!!
