  1. Here is the one I built about 11 years ago, works well but since then I have added more holes for tool holders and on the left side 2 springs that are screwed onto the top surface to hold flies white they dry. The light wood is actually a maple cutting board I picked up and cut the rounded edges off then I used the scraps of wood I had laying around the shop to make the rest of it. We are doing reno's right now so I will try and get a picture of what it looks like now in a day or two. But this is what it looked like newly built. The front dowels hold one spool of thread each while the back ones are double height. The small holes on the right go into the upright so I can put put my bodkins and picks in those holes without having to worry about stabbing myself while moving it.
  2. Yahoo my flies arrived today, fast for coming to Canada through the post. All the flies look great. I can hardly wait to try out the Tiger Midge and the Nymph on my favorite river this summer. Thanks everyone for the great looking flies. Huge thanks to Brian for hosting the swap. Looking forward to more. Ross
  3. Well lets see, I tied twice the amount of flies needed for the swap so I would have lots for the season so I do not need any of the ones I tied back. I would be just as happy if you kept the extras if you want them. You put in the work into organizining the swap so I feel that you can have the extras of mine, that idf you want beginners flies T hanks for organizing the swap.
  4. Just got home and what was waiting for me? A package from Gary, the flies are great thank you to everyone who took part. And a huge thanks to Gary for hosting this swap.
  5. Yup Canada Post sure knows how to get your money. I am swap out of the US. Checked the US postal site to learn a little more about International return Coupons, they are about $1.60 USD but here in Canada they are $3.50 each. They are good for one Stamp, if you recieve one of these in a swap it is good for one 51 cent stamp. Talk about a rip off. From now on I will just take the time to pop across the border and send my packages when ever I am involved in a swap with our friends to the south. I have a PO box in the US for buisness and now it is for Swaps also. I think I just might do all my swap buisness out of the US since they have a cheaper rate that Canada. Sorry it cost you so much Gary, you would think it would be cheap to mail within Canada, but then again I think our goverment treats Quebec as a different country along with the other provinces east of Ottawa.
  6. Cool I was fearing the worse with having to send them over the border. They got there quick though, now I can hardly wait to get some back. Oh if I did not send enough in reply coupons just drop me a line and I will make good on it. Thanks for hosting this one.
  7. I can hardly wait, fishing going stong here right now and I want to try some of those patterns. Hooked into and lander a nice 25 inch bull last week, now if I can figure out how to post I would put up a pic of it with the fly I tied hanging out of its mouth.
  8. Flies are in the mail. I was able to get away from work long enough to go to the post office today. I hope you all like them.
  9. Ok so both sets of flies have been done for a while. I have been trying to figure out the International Return Coupon with the local post office for a while now. Well they were no help at all, saying that it was only good for a letter and not a package, I finally went on the US postal web site and discovered that all I need to do is get a couple of coupons and include them and everything will be fine. But now since I have wasted a week I need to send the flies by express mail. Ouch. looks to be about $18.00 to get them there in time. My own fault, I should have read the pinned topic at the top of the swap section more closley. Well enough said, lesson leasned, flies going in the mail tommorow morning, they say 5 working days to get there. I know better for the next swap.
  10. I would rather have other flies back than mine since I have lots of the one that I tied. As far as I am concerned the Swap Master can keep any extras for the time and effort that he put into the swap.
  11. No problem I will do two flies, I enjoy tying and this gives me an excuse to tie more flies and expand the types of flies that I can tie. Need to further my knowledge and this is a good way to do it. The first 4 or 5 I tie end up in my box, by then I have got the pattern down to not bad and then after I am finished tying for the swap I can compare the first ones with the last ones and end up stripping the firt ones and retying them for myself. I love the learning curve involved with tying new flies and using new materials.
  12. Oops looks like I am down for two. Dunno what happened but thats alright, just gives me an excuse to tie more flies and perfect my method. I guess for my second fly I will do some kind of Czech Nymph. Don't know what one yet as I have to check and see what colors of dubbing I have on hand. So I guess that puts me at half way done. as soon as I finish the Czech Nymphs I will be taking a trip across the border to mail them, ( don't trust cacnada post to get them there on time )
  13. After many long night pondering what to tie, I think I will do a Beadhead flashaboo minnow pattern.
  14. I'm in, if you don't mind a crazy canuck, tying something used up here in Canada.
  15. Flys all done now all I need is an addy. Will mail them out as msoon as I ge tthe addy along with a little something extra fro the Swap Miester.
