Meeshka 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2019 Bugs just ate all the leaves on my brussel sprouts. Lots of sprouts on the stalk. Will the sprouts still grow and mature without leaves? Or are they toast. Wasn't planning to harvest till mid Oct. First timegrowing sprouts. Thanks Doug
vicrider 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2019 I have absolutely no idea but I do know the grasshoppers this year have totally destroyed the flower gardens my wife works so hard on. She gets a "yard of the month" award and picture in local fish wrap every year but I don't think anyone got an award for flowers. Just a few nicely manicured lawns kept short enough for hoppers to not eat.
Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2019 Sorry to say but your Brussels sprouts will die long before October. The leaves are what absorb the sunlight that feeds the plant. Without leaves the plant will never be able to bring your sprouts to maturity.
