LB works as a nymph, why not a dry. Tied here as a Purple Haze; you're only limited by your imagination.

hook - Dai Riki 320 #14

thread - Danville 6/0 black

tail - hackle fibers brown/grizzly mix

rib - UTC wire x-small silver

abdomen - tinsel holo purple

thorax - Ice Dub/rabbit purple

wing - Congo Hair white

hackle - brown/grizzly mix (oversize by 1)

mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark, wrap to point above barb and make a little thread bump

stack and measure (shank) a mixture of hackle fibers; tie in tight against the bump to set the proper angle, trim butts at 2/3 mark and cover with thread

tie in rib

tie in tinsel, wrap to tail and back; tie off/trim

counterwrap rib; helicopter end/cover with thread

tie in a hank of CH; crosswrap, then post it up (brush with a little Sally)

prep hackles; post up, shiny side out, cup-side up as you wrap

IMG_0217_zpsott5qihr.jpg

dub thread/dub thorax; finish at base of post

IMG_0223_zps9sdukhdr.jpg

wrap brown hackle down post; let it hang and then trap hackle with wraps at base of post

IMG_0225_zpsrgnxnv5n.jpg

repeat with the grizzly, filling any gaps (one at a time gives me better control over the wraps); half hitch x 2 at the base (brush thread with Sally before you cinch it tight)

trim wing
