  1. Thanks for the help, guys. :headbang: I called a fly shop in BC yesterday and they confirmed that it's acceptable to mash the barbs.
  2. British Columbia waters are listed as "barbless" in the regs. I'm wondering if mashing the barbs on your flies falls within the regs or do you constantly tie only on actual barbless hooks? I'm planning a fishing trip to eastern BC. I tend to tie my flies on barbed hooks, because they're much easier to come by in my area, and then mash them when I tie them on. I'm hoping I won't have to re-tie my entire box for the trip. Thanks in advance for your help!
  3. thanks, D5. I don't ever need justification to make a trip to the fly shop, but I'll definitely file that one away for when my wife starts asking questions. I'll just tell her "I'm making a shopping trip to the fly shop to save us money". :headbang:
  4. Thanks, guys. You're right, Futzer, I guess I'll have to look into tube flies. Just not looking forward to having to buy the tools and all new cone heads and such. (actually I secretly am!!! shhhh, don't tell) Such is my life as a fly tier, "spend $1,000 to tie $100 worth of flies."
  5. ok, so this thread hasn't really produced thus far. but, i did find this link if anyone else is looking: http://globalflyfisher.com/streamers/raske...m#PartridgeCS15
  6. sorry, forgot to mention that the hooks I own currently are size #2.
  7. I'm looking for suggestions on huge streamer hooks for some large baitfish patterns. Currently the longest hooks I own are the DA2370 3x-heavy, 7X long. I'm actually looking to go bigger and longer. I like this particular hook, but can't seem to find it in the 2/0-4/0 size range. Any recommendations are appreciated? The longer the better! Thank you!
  8. rich, Just a suggestion, it appears that you've wrapped the chenille over the hackle. If that's the case, try wrapping the chenille first. it will help with the body shape.
  9. Welcome, Jessie. I checked out your flies on Photobucket and there's definitely nothing to laugh at. Wow, you've been busy since November, looks you jumped into tying with both feet! Great job on the photography as well!
  10. Great stuff, Dave! Love the bead added to the eggi.
  11. Great ties, everyone! Old Hat, wonderful job on the photos. Thank you very much for taking the time post them.
  12. yeah, I was wishing as well. At any rate, those soft hackles are brilliant. Keep up the good work!
  13. Sorry, no tying vise, just a clip to hold the fly for the photo. Cheers, Hans W :wallbash: I was afraid you were going to say that. But, you tricked me with the angle of the clip in the photos. :bs:
  14. Hans, I really like the point on that vise. What brand is it?
