While parts for customers rods are drying and still waiting on some parts for other customers I decided since it has been a year since I built myself a rod it was time to rectify that. Picked up a 10ft 5wt 4pc Xi series blank the other day and now tonight turned down an insert for the seat I plan to use and glued up / turned a bunch of burl cork into a grip for it. Just finished applying the 5th coat of spar to the grip. Should be ready to install the seat & grip about midnight.

Steve, what,s your opinion of Winn grips..they sound like fancy EVA grips. Thanks..

If you like EVA then I think you would like Winn grips. They are a soft comfortable dense type foam that comes in various colors and patterns.

just learned from Mud Hole tackle that Winn grips are built on an EVA core base and wrapped with the Winn Dry polymer tape..in case any is interested..
