  1. Wow! These are some truly outstanding flies. I would almost swear that some of them are the real insects with a hook stuck in them. Congratulations to all who made it this far and good luck.
  2. I am semi retired working part time for the Salvation Army but since the feds decided to reduce my pension by 60% I am looking for a full time job. I have been a Conservation Education / Firearms Safety instructor for 22 years. Worked in a cold finish steel mill for over 29 years. Wife of 31 years Betty works as a homemaker. Two great boys and one daughter - in - law. Scott, Mike and Lynn Four walking feline dubbing dispensers. I will be a new granddad in November.
  3. I may not understand correctly what you are saying but I was taught that when you wrap tinsel over hurl you go in the opposite direction as the hurl.
  4. I use Mustad. Only once did I have one straighten out. Got a nice trout that ran down stream and I tried too hard to turn him and the hook straightened out. It was a size 16 black ant. I like the hooks because they come in 100 packs at a good price.
  5. I tied for years but really didn't know what I was doing ( not that I do now ) but a book I got that helped alot was Essential Trout Flies by Dave Hughes. This site is also a tremendous help. I am tying things that I never thought I was capable of.

    Hi!

Hi My name is Allen. I just joined this site yesterday. I live in northeast Connecticut and do most all my flyfishing here. I started tying years ago but really didn't know what I was doing. This past winter I took a tying course and now I'm really into it. Tied all of my own and have even caught some fish with them. I really enjoy a nice day trout fishing on the river or stream even if I don't get anything. Hope to learn more from the people here. We'll talk more.
