  1. i guess it is the epoxy on the foam that makes it leatherlike. i will have to play with that. its a nice looking shrimp.
  2. got mine. very interesting mix as was said. hate to get them wet but i plan to try if the wind/rain will back down. what is the body material on Tinney shrimp?
  3. looking forward to seeing them. thot id give an explanation of what i was trying to get at with mine. it is upside down in the photo which may be to show the beads or may be because the design is not obvious. it is an attempt at the billy bay gold shrimp. we had an unbelievable year with those. i saw some interesting extended body bead flies in an old Hatches and thot it would be interesting to try to get the fly to ride hook up without dumbells. played around with some different shapes and the teardrop worked great right at the start of the bend. i used some different sizes and settled on the black one. the antelope in the front seems to make it pop up off the bottom. please let me know how it works in your conditions. Thanks again Dave for managing this one. it has been nice to "meet" all y'all. if any of you get to s. cackalacky i have access to some great fishing areas. L8R
  4. mine arent the prettiest ive ever tied but i hope the idea will get yall thinking. i really liked the motion. look forward to seeing some other styles. thanx for putting this one together F&P now if the wind will back down so i can flyak. L8R hutch
  5. still new to this forum and still learning my way around. where do i get the address/shipping instructions, etc. thanx
  6. yeah Pawleys island south cackalacky. we didnt even have a winter this year --water is still 56F. but i work in knee deep cypress swamps so i am not complaining at all. we dont have underwater grass beds here so i want to survey what you guys do. do the flies need a weedguard? what weight rod are you tossing? do you get it down with a sinking line, flouro leader, or lead eyes. thanks looking forward to it. hutch
  7. we have been SPANKING them on DOA shrimp this winter. best year ever here but they shut off a couple weeks ago so im riding the bench. yes i resort to the spinning rod especially in the yak. i am still dangerous with the flyaking combo but i plan to do mobettuh. i have been playing with a DOA shrimp pattern and the back issue of hatches i just got gave me some new ideas with beads. i like everything about swaps except running them. it is like herding cats with firecrackers. count me in and thanks for herding, i mean heading, this up. hutch pawleys island
  8. that is a nice one. once they get shoulders its a different animal.
  9. i think pheasants are mostly to make your mind roam. i dont see how one bird could have that many different feather needs but it obviously does. i still plan to try an all feather spoon fly cause the mylar ones stir up the pot in some of these forums. they make good crab parts and they naturally follow the curve of a circle hook. i used to leave mine hanging on the wall over my tie desk just to stare at it. enjoy. im gonna look for a very good site from a guy who has passed but he had a very nice progression for teaching the different methods and styles.
  10. greetings from pawleys island, s. cackalacky. mostly chase tailin reds and specs in north inlet with minimal success. like to tie but dont last long on any one pattern. playing with the 60 degree "jig" hook style right now. trying bending my own from 34007s and some other long shanks. love wabbit and buffalo belly.
