I know this is an old, old post, but came across it and I like. Gonna have to check out that body material. Great tie!

First time I've seen this one from Dronlee. I am thinking that the needle is slid out when the tail is of the desired length and then the plain kevlar thread tied in.

As with all of Dron's patterns, there's a link (on the post) to his step by step instructions on his page.

Yep. That's where I saw he tied on the needle but not 100% clear if he leaves that in or takes it out. I was wondering if the material remains well secured once the needle comes out.

Yes I'm certain he slides the needle out but I'm concerned how well the material remains attached as the kevlar thread will become flat and lose some of the contact with the thread wraps that were to the needle size.

It just doesn't seem like the dubbing would be as long as those fibers look. I don't see how that works like that

Allow me to answer how it's tie on the kevlar...

you will need a needle to insert thru the kevlar, the material are tie direct onto the kevlar and secured with a little flex resin.

There are knots in between each tied on materials, to prevent to material to slip...

Very inspiring concept.

I just ordered a spool of hollow braided 200# Kevlar.

Thanks for posting.

FK
