these articles may be of interest (or not) to newbie tyers as well as experienced tyers

in the Autumn 2016 of Fly Tyer magazine there are 2 articles worth mentioning regarding fly tying feathers

1. Feathered Friends - Not all fly tying freathers come from chickens. Expert fly tier Al Ritt gives us a brief tour of the many useful feathers found on North American game birds.

2. Cool Shades - Understanding hackle color and selecting wisely is easier than you think. Master fly tier Bill "Bugs" Logan tells us what we need to know

in the Fall 2016 issue of Flyfishing and Tying Journal is an article called "By a Thread" by Al Ritt. Basically is about tying threads simplified.
