  1. Thanks for the info. I actually tried yesterday without any luck. Saw a few but no takers. Man is it cold wading almost chest deep in November! I think I'll try for steelhead until it warms up.
  2. Is there a reasonable chance of fly fishing for carp now (in Ontario)? It's getting pretty chilly, but I don't know much about their biology to determine if I should make a day of it or not. They're pretty fun in the summer, and I can only hope it still holds true in the autumn.
  3. Interesting! Well you've sold me. What tubing do you use for it, and where can I get some? I've never tied "in the round", but I think I can get a fishable fly.
  4. I bought the book "Fly Fishing for Great Lakes Steelhead", and I think it's quite good. I'm pretty new to fly fishing, and fly fishing for samonids. Anyone try tube flies? They sound really good, how they rotate around the hook shank. I can see them being irrestible to fish, but I'm not sure.
  5. Thanks for the tip! Those are great looking flies...I have a stupid question (I'm pretty new to fly fishing); why do sucker egg patterns look so different from salmonid egg patterns? Do their eggs look different, and if so, how? I've never seen sucker roe before, but I'm quite interested.
  6. I'm pretty new to fly fishing, and might try my luck with salmon in the Ontario tribs. Anyone have any advice on presentation? I'm interested in set-up/rigging, and how to present the fly (ie. dead drift, swing, etc.).
  7. I'm relatively new to fly fishing, and very new to this forum. Just saying hi. I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and I fly fish for bass, trout, salmon, steelhead, carp, and gar. I do tie as well, but I'm neither a good tier or good fly fisherman, so hopefully I'll learn a lot here.
