Fisheating Creek

Fisheating Creek. The only free flowing waterway that empties into Lake Okeechobee.

Ya. I love it there. Beautiful place to camp, swim, and fish. Nice cool water too.

The Lox is a pain to fish on weekends, full of canoers and kayakers doing the scenic trails. But, it is heaven if you can escape on a weekday.

Sweet! I'm envious. I've never been out there this time of year. On the bucket list that's for sure.

The Loxahatchee is great. I agree it can get crowded, but it's so worth it if you can time it right.

I've never been out in lox. I lived in wp for a year and still never went out there. The creek is cool. You see a few other people and a couple of groups of paddlers, but nowhere near a crowd. We like to load everything up in the boat and leave on a Friday morning. Set up a camp on the creek bank and stay till Sunday.

That is a beautiful area and one of the few spots left of unspoiled Florida. I was out there back in March and it was beautiful weather that time of year. Cruised around the river and fished for a couple of hours but didn't get much, and it didn't matter because the scenery was incredible.

It was a great day on the creek today. Didn't do much fishing. Lots of cruising and swimming in the cool flowing water. Love this place.

Or brain eating amoeba or flesh eating bacteria?

Fresh and salt water isn't made for swimming ... it's only good for fishing.

Swim in a pool, if you must swim ... or not at all, my favorite option.

BUT ... that is some beautiful Scenery you've photographed, Caloosa.

Both are there. We only saw a couple gators today, but they mostly swim away. Plenty of moccasins too, you just have to watch out.

Ameoba smeeba, you just need to have a tannic creek bath once in a while to know it's healing powers.

LOL I'll take your word for it. Contrary to popular belief ... there is NO fountain of Youth in Florida. Trust me, I've searched.

Whoo hoo. The creek has risen. It has been too low to navigate since November. The gauge has been negative for the last 2 months. Thanks to a couple weeks of much needed rain, we can finally get back to this beautiful piece of old Florida. The fishing won't be any good for a while, but at least we can get back to camping.
