this is my first attempt for a steelhead fly. i know that there's some things that i need to work on with this fly, such as body tinsel and putting on the tail better and stopping the thread before the bend of the hook. anyway, i would greatly appreciate feedback and even some alterations to this pattern. so here is the material list: Hook: Gamaktsu SL11-3H size 8 Thread: red Body: opal tinsel, medium Tail: hot pink buck tail Wing: Fl. Cerlse Buck tail Collar: Pink spay hackle

thats alot of help. the stream that ill be fishing is on the west side of the hood canal (as i may have mentioned earlier) alot of cutties for the canal use it for spawning. ill have to remember the red and yellow. maybe a micky finn or a wolly bugger with a yellow and red maribou tail or sonthing alond those lines. -

thank you. we fish for humpies ever run and its a blast! the only reason that i know the scientific name is because I'm a natural resources student and i learned most of them last quarter. its alot of fun to go to school and just ask the whole room what rivers are hot that week or where the elk, deer or geese are :yahoo: I took some aquatic classes as well so I was surprised I remembered what it was cause that was 7 or 8 years ago yeah i love it. i've been looking up patterns but cant find any instructions to tie them. i've found that royal coachman/wulf and pheasant tail nymphs work -

I'm not sure exactly there's multiple streams that we fish. the one that were going to be fishing a lot this spring we've only herd about. all the info that i have is that the best spot is the pool of a waterfall. i believe that the stream is no wider then 10 feet across.
