  1. Sad and scary but true: While trolling for snook and tarpon the Rio Panuco in Tamaulipas, Mexico, some 40 years ago, I snagged a drowned human corpse!!!!!!!!!! At first we thought it was a submerged tree branch and reversed course to retrieve the lure but it turned out to be a male corpse. The poor guy had drowned 3 days before after falling in the river while zigzagging home drunk. The worst part was dragging the corpse back to the dock and dealing with the local authorities. And the smell!!!!!!!!!!! UGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. It looks real good, man!!!!!!!! Check out the ones I tie:
  3. Xavier... Just two words: SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!! NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Thanks for your kind words guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last Saturday I went fishing with some friends to a trout pond and carried with me some of the larger frogs to show off to my friends. Out of a whim, I tied one of the smallest I had with me and cast it out to the trout. As soon as it hit the water it was viciously attacked but... the frog was too big for the fish!!!!!!!! They just started bouncing it around while my friends cheered and I laughed my rocks off!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is why I just started to make some smaller ones for the rainbows. If you are willing to wait for me till Saturday I'll make some time to make a step by step photo shoot of this pattern (Got a good camera but I'm a lousy photographer). By the way, I designed this frog for a fly swap we are conducting down here in Mexico in our Fishing Forum. The last head count gave us almost 10,000 members from Latin America, Spain and some USA Spanish speaking members. mswaterfowler: It's not "a foamy", it's "foamy"!!!!!!! Closed cell foam (in 8 1/2 x 11" sheets) is used for arts & crafts and comes in a great array of colors and at least two thicknesses that I know of.
  5. After a looooong time of just lurking around this fabulous forum, I want to share this new fly I designed to catch unwary bass down here in Mexican waters. Hope you guys like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one in the photo was made using a 4/0 salmon hook but have made a lot more using way smaller hooks (#10's and #8's). Still have to try the smaller sizes for rainbow trout in ponds near home. Bet they will be killers!!!!!!!
  6. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by Carlos Marti: Charlie Frog
  7. Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hyst: :hyst: :hyst: Kudos again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Have you investigated if you can sue these guys??????????? The money would come in handy for more toys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Ray, it will depend on where you are going to stay. It will be a lot better if you hire a guide!!!! Just ask the local Tourist Dept. to help you out. Do not take your tackle with you. Local guides are knowledgeable have everything you'll need. The current rates are around $500.00 per six hour fishing day plus a 15% tip (depending on results). Another option would be hiking on shore till you find a "mud flat" where you could find feeding bonefish or permit. For that kind of fishing you will need lots of time and a 9 - 10 ft. 8wt rod with a good saltwater reel and plenty of backing (bones and permit are hard runners). Hope this will help. Good fishing and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Merry Xmas to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you like my small Xmas tree!!!!!!
  11. Those pics remind me of the popular Chevvy Chase "Christmas Holidays" film!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many more!!!!!!!!
  13. It just "transmogrifyed"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is the change just a trial? Is it being implemented soon?
  14. Tough decision!!!!!!!!!!!! You either eat hot meals or go bird hunting!!!!!!!!!!! :dunno: One thing's for sure, your bed will keep warm anyway!!!!!!!! :hyst: :yahoo:
  15. Xavier!!!!!!!!! I can't open the link to the inspiration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
