subsurface 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2016 Hi everyone, I've just joined and have come here to learn how to take my tying to the next level. I mostly tie beadheaded nymphs for my local rivers (Derbyshire Derwent and Dove) but will be branching out into traditional wets, spiders (soft hackle wets to some) and some more elaborate dries than the 'smidgeon of fluff and a coupla turns of hackle' that I fished with this season. Good to meet you all.
Flat Rock native 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2016 Welcome subservice, you will find it all here. When ready for those traditional wets be sure to check on "Crackaig" s website. He knows the subject matter and there are awesome photos to prove it..
Crackaig 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2016 Hello Subsurface, In that area you may know some friends of mine. Pete Arfield at the Bakewell shop, is the most likely? Cheers, C.

mikechell 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2016 Hi everyone, I've just joined and have come here to learn how to take my tying to the next level. Good to meet you all. It's good to meet you, too, Sub. You didn't mention if you wanted to "take it to the next level" UP ... or DOWN! I'm a fly angler who ties for my fishing. My flies are a step BELOW most people here. They last through days of fishing, but they aren't something you'd make a framed picture of, if you know what I mean. I can help you devolve your tying, if you want. Many ... MANY of the tiers on this site will help you get to the next level UP. But one thing I highly recommend. Pictures. If you think you're doing something wrong, gives us some pictures for explanation. Any rude comments you might get are probably attempts at jokes. But the better the question and pictures, the better the critiques and suggestions will be. Again, welcome to the site !!! subsurface 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2016 Cheers guys. Yes, indeed, Crackaig. I'm not a regular as I'd be bankrupt in no time :-) But I do make the pilgrimage up to Bakewell on occasion - and pilgrimage it is, the man's a legend! I'm looking forward to checking out your website as per Flat Rock's advice MIke - how low can you go? Heh, yes, I suppose I'm in a similar position - I can tie flies that catch fish but I'd like to tie ones that do it with finesse. I've a busy time at work over the next few days but once I get a bit of time to relax and tie I'll make sure to get some photos. Thanks for the tip. I just had a look and can't wait to give the Endrick's and the black magic a go. Lovely flies.
