Tragedy reported in Belize

27 June 2019 - 08:45 AM

I posted something on the fly fishing board that anyone that travels south of the border to fish may want to read about... I posted it there to get the greatest distribution since this board goes very quiet periodically...

Essentially a US fly fishing angler and his guide were shot to death while on the water fishing... Not very much detail at present but an item to keep track of... Wish it weren't so...

Tragedy in Belize

Very recent news - visiting fly angler and his guide shot to death out on the water... Here's some local Florida commentary on the available reports...

Everglades backcountry - Flamingo, 25 May

27 May 2019 - 08:08 AM

As usual my report only has a bit of fly fishing (fly anglers wanted...) this week  - but the small tarpon (less than 60lbs...) have been eating our flies when presented properly... At any rate here's the report....

spring time - Everglades backcountry, Flamingo to Chokoloskee

20 April 2019 - 06:19 PM

Typical guide lament... spring-time has you praying for a day off... so this report covers about a six week period ending just a day or two ago.

At any rate I was lucky enough to fish forum member, Barbless Bob (aka Bob Elliott) a few weeks ago and that's the start of a report that probably has more spin than fly fishing... At any rate Bob did get a nice 60lb tarpon on a 10wt up a small, nameless river in the backcountry... A sixty pound tarpon in a small river is a handful.....

For all the particulars (and a few photos) ....

Biscayne nights - Everglades days, 7 Feb

For my most recent report (with only a bit of fly-fishing - but some great news about big tarpon in the 'glades...
