dryfly purist 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2014 The moon was really clear on the sky tonight, and i guess it´s because of the cold weather. I had to try and capture it :-) Terje

FlaFly 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2014 Absolutely beeyootiful! Mike can't you see that little green man over on the left horizon? He's carrying a big yellow chunk of cheese. I could never see that in B&W

kentuckytroutbum 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2014 Terje- Great photo. May I ask what your lens, and exposure was on that shot? Can't help but wondering if those bright dots are probes, and lunar landers that we've left on the moon from past missions. Thanks for posting. FlaFly 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2014 I like what appears to be lines of longitude, converging on a "south pole".

Bill Thanks, Bill :-) :-) This shot was taken with a Nikon D800, Nikon 300mm f2,8 VR1, and i used a shutterspeed at 1/2000 sec, aperture f5,6 and 100 iso. A 300mm is acctually not enough for moon shots, but as i have the Nikon D800 i can crop the image and still keep the details quite ok :-) Terje

You are looking at the full Moon's surface ... which, two dimensionally, is over 2000 miles across. (You're actually seeing quite a bit more than 2000 miles due to the curvature) Any object we left up there is too small, at this distance, to be visible, even if directly reflecting the sun at your eyes. The glow is lost in the Moon's glory. As far as our vision is concerned, the Moon is as pristine as the day proto-man first set eyes on it.

mikechell 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2014 Your "South Pole" is the Tycho Crater. It's where the Monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey is found.
FlaFly 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2014 Does it still have monkeys on it? I can't see them clearly.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2014 LOL No ... THAT Monolith was on Earth. The Tycho Monolith was the second one of the movie. You really should brush up on your future history !!!
FlaFly 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2014 Well, you know what they say.... the future is not what it used to be.
