  1. This site has a couple of those sizes listed........Gary http://www.killroys.com/hooks/hookmust.htm
  2. I have one that i've been using for a while now & i really like it! As has been mentioned, it has great hook holding capabilities. The only thing i don't like is, if i have some longish material, say for ribbing, tied in, & not yet wrapped, when i use the rotary feature, it sometimes gets tangled in the vice. Problem is easily solved by not using so long of a strand.
  3. I recently built one & so far it's working out good! It's a drop front desk, so it doesn't take up too much space when folded up, but gives you a nice surface area when you are tying. Gary
  4. I was told to put all roadkill directly into the freezer for at least 2 weeks, then take them out & thaw for 1 week. After that put them back in the freezer for another 2 weeks. This will kill any nits initially, then, with the thaw, if there are any eggs, it will kill then when it's refrozen. Better safe than sorry.........
  5. Thanks for the input! I'm thinking that the KISS principle would work here..........Sorting them out by Wet/Dry, then further by nymph/emerger etc. That way i can get at the right style quicker & try & match with something similar. Still, it would be nice to know which is which so that i can know that on such & such a date, at XXX lake, they were taking YYY flies (for a journal).
  6. Hi There, i was wondering if any of you have an id system for flies in the boxes. I've tied some flies a couple of years ago, that i haven't used & find that when i'm out on the lake , i can't remember what it was for! (must be old age setting in! ) So i'm thinking of labeling my flies, but then comes the issue of Category/Subcategory(species/etc. Do any of you do this, or do you just get better at id'ing them over time? Thanks, Gary
  7. Thanks for the welcomes! I'm sure to have a lot of questions coming up, but for now i want to check out all the past posts, I'm sure they've already been asked. Anyone else here from BC?
  8. Hi everyone, i just registered, so thought i should intro myself. I'm from Vancouver Island (BC, Canada). I sort of just stumbled upon this fantastic site. Should of found it a long time ago, oh well, better late than never. I've been tying flies for about 2 years now & i'm still very much learning all the ins & outs. There is a wealth of info here that i've got to wade thru, thanks for this site. Gary
