  1. Hee samurai, my english will be very bad, but i will explain what my profession is. My job is creating flavors and fragrances by the world leader of those materials. My artistic skills came out my family. In my family are well known painters such as willem van dort, this is the time of vincent van gogh was painting in Antwerp. Willem van dort also painted there in the same time as Vincent was there. They met eachother. I have some paintings of Willem sr. Another member of my family is music director, and his daughter was playing the main roll in tarzan the musical worldwide. my last name is van den brand(search on internet, if you want) This is the first time that i tell this to others, i am proud for this family. I like to create flies on different ways, to learn what can i do with my chosen materials, and how far can i go in my window screen thanks and respect for all who like's sharing
  2. Let me be honest(my english is not so good). on my opinion is tying a large or huge struggle. what is tying, and what is creating. That is what we all want to achieve, a creature or fly that you want to create. And it is not important iff you want to make a fishie fly or a creature were you put the effort in how far yo can go with your own material. To me i can say that i am in some struggle what can i acchieve with my own material. what do i want???. Is it, look what i made what you can't, or is it: look what i want to share whit anyone who is interrested in my style. I will give you a example: the mantis. Has nothing to do with flyfishing that is for sure. In the beginning it was over the top, it is not realistic flytying. But when the questions came what kind of materials that the guy uses, there where many tiers who are interrsted in his materials. What he can, I can do better whas the credo. Please people; it is, and will be always a hobby to me. I know also some people who do not speak to me, because i don't make any bug, mayfly, or stonefly. Yes I create sea horses, has nothing to do with flyfishing, but everything with creating, pleasure, and imagionation. And no one will take this from me what so ever. Do I have to pay the price that i have chosen sea horses;. There are many people who likes the creatures i've made. And for the people who don't like glue, resin, and other rare materials, how more replys i get(bad ones) the more i will get realistic for the few ones. martie
  3. I think it is A cicada from the south of France. The noise keeps you awake in some regions. martie
  4. Thanks Andrès for the posting. It still wil be A concept. Searching for the ultimate materials I am looking for goes further. Translucent is very difficult, but almost there. The secret is how to handle the materials. The concept about the legs of the schrimps is oke, also the colouring. The shellback is optima forma now. The small swimmerlegs where the eggs are holding could be better, only the tail section is not sathisfied yet. The next concept will be A sea horse or snail, also translucent. thanks for all, and respect for all. martie
  5. First of all, thanks johan for the post. Jeremy, i like more whiskey with some schrimps and some grashoppers of Paul. Gustaf, the fly tasted great. british mike, thanks riversteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeheadslayer. the spots came from santa clause(i do not know how they appeare) martie
  6. hello paul, the spots will dissapeare when boiling the schrimp. it will be a concept, i am not satisfied about the swimmer legs. I have to make a dozen of hours to do the job. On the flyfair of holland I will show the chinese take a way schrimp. martie van den brand www.thewobblefly.com
  7. Thanks stalker, Here in Holland the wobble fly on large hooks(6/0) they went crazy last winter for pike. Today started in finland a pikefly contest(international). And yes, the wobble fly is also there(the flies). You can put the large blade on every pattern you fish. But you have to make sure that the hook is bend for downforce gravity(and the rotation wil stop imediately). If there are more questions let me know. The smaller wobble flies size4 to 10 are fished for seatrout, rainbows, brown, bass, zander. The large ones are like a magnet to tarpon GT and stripers. And the casting is not a problem, they are so light in weight. Only the blade gives friction while casting. I also tie very small swimming wobble flies. There are so many free living nymphes, so gife yourselve the insperation. with a split shot i give the fly the weight to reach the waterlayer where te real nymphes are to hatch. with small intervals i hold the line, then the wobble fly wil swim like a real nymph. This I repeat the whole drift, and on the end with small retrieves along the bankside towards me. This is more then only bumping on the bottom. martie
  8. Hello samurai, my english is not so very good but I want to explain something to all off you. First off all you can send me an email to my adres [email protected] It is hard for me to put something on this forum. You can put the info on the forum then(with fotographs). The answer is very easy to me now. I am the inventor off the wobble fly(sorry) the fly wobble blades are created by myself 7 years ago You can also buy them by cabelas. the twirling of a fly can be easy solved by:downforce gravity. You don't need any heavy stuff or other materials on the hookshank. It costed me really 3 years to solve this problem. I have an english version(explanation) on how it wil works. The aswer is closer to you than you think. I want to be in contact with you, and then is everything clear. You can or may post it here, because I want to share with everyone. You will find out that this is the secret were all of you are looking to. It is not that i am the man now, but only the creator of the wobble fly(sounds arrogant, but i am not). Here in Europe i write a lot of articles of the wobble fly and the story behind. You will be amazed how this fly swim like a real fish or nymph. So every fly you have in youre pocket can made to be a real swimming creature. martie van den brand
  9. Hello Jason, The effects of casting a fly tied up with a wobble blade is that it slowes a little bit the speed into your flyline. So you have to put a bit more power into your rod. It is only a little bit. Only for the real big flies size 6/0 or more you have to use a heavier fly line. The wobble fly here in holland is a killer for big pike, and in small sizes 6/10 very good on the alpine waters(austria, switzerland, germany) Many of your own tied nymphs can be used for fixing a wobble blade. The only thing is that you have to bent the hook for preventing the fly will rotatong into the fast current. If you want i can send you a tying description by mail. [email protected] martie
  10. the wobble blades are created by myself. I gave it to hopkins and holloway and now it is by cabelas. My english is not so very good, but you can watch flytyingcontest.com the wobble fly. If someone is interested in the tying instruction how to tie the original wobble fly, you can send me a mail [email protected] with best regards, martie van den brand, the Netherlands
