These look pretty good, Phil. They should work just fine.
Joe

Thanks Joe, tied them to take my dad out and the fish cooperated!

Hope your Dad had a good time.

Joe

Most any fly (for trout) that has a predominance of yellow will usually work well here in the Smokies (there are a few exceptions of course). The green weenie nymph is also a great fly in the summer time. This is a variation of the green weenie, only yellow and instead of using yellow chenille for the body, I used yellow marabou strands wound around the hook. I'll give it a shot and see if the trout like it.

Hook: 12 to 16 nymph hook

Head: gold or copper bead

Thread: yellow

Underbody: fine non-toxic wire and any light colored yarn to provide a base for the marabou body

Tail: yellow duck quill

Body: Yellow marabou strands

Still tying larger than average, for me, sized flies. When the rivers are rocking flow wise the lakes are rocking in a different way!!

This little beauty just popped up on our YouTube channel. A very, very simple fly you can tie using nothing but thread, a bead, and a silver wire with some UV resin. Feel free to check it out if interested: https://www.youtube....h?v=s06cT_sUo2w   as always, with EN subtitles

Thanks fshg2, I hate to ask too many Q's on this thread but do you use the fireholes in salt or only fresh?
