  1. That's a lot of stuff. These look promising to maybe be cree capes. The one on the left looks more likely to be a cree or grizzly varaint. Its to hard to tell in the picture. Capes like the ones I circled are your best bet for better pricing. If it's cree you might be able to get some money for that. Also the Mustad hooks might be valuable there are some discontinued styles that people really like. A lot of this stuff should probably be sold as a grab bag to make sure you are getting good value pre sale. Things like the deer hair would be better sold that way. The full brid skins there value is pretty low when new so I would not expect a lot for those used. I did not see a jungle cock or anything else in that rare range that someone would pay big dollars for. The condintion of the materials did look very good that will help sell this stuff. Overall I think someone would have to see them in preson to verifi anything in the way of price or quality. I would call the fly shop first they can be quite busy and you are going to need a lot of someone's time to appraise this much stuff.
  2. Hello JackOC I am in long beach CA. I could possible help you or you could also reach out to the Long Beach Casting Club and see if any of them would be intrested. Let me know if there is anything I can help with. Might be possible for me to come down this weekend due to it being a long weekend and all. Daniel
  3. I do this a lot. Mostly in slat. I kick quite slow and either jig or twitch my fly. It is effective for covering lots of water. I use it a lot to fish areas I have never fished before. It gives you a quick snap shot of were the fish are holding. Very effective if you don't see anything rising. I cover my technique for salt in a video here. https://youtu.be/1JVAxDPm79c This is for salt but same idea in fresh water lakes. I use intermaited and full sink tips. But I fish quite deep. But in fresh I have used just floating lines to.
  4. Please enjoy this next installment of Leaf's "How To" series about tying Doug's Ghost Minnow. This is a great bay bait fish pattern, which is pretty easy to tie and fun to fish. So far it has been taking Spotted Bay Bass, Sand Bass, Calico Bass, decent sized Halibut, Corbina and more. It will probably be a great fly for any bait fish if the color is matched. This is a really great pattern so give this fly a shot and see how it works for you. https://youtu.be/7jU8KVQ9pkQ

  9. I am a little new to this section of the forum but I am a frequent contributor to some of the other sections. I am working on creating a how to series on fly fishing the salt water here in California. The main focus will be in Southern California but there will be a lot of information that will cross over to Northern California and other saltwater fishers around the country. The series will include float tubing in salt water bays, equipment needed, fishing techniques from a float tube, surf fishing, tying flies, building shooting heads, and much more. A lot of the information applies to traditional fishing as well. Please enjoy this first installment.

  11. Go Pro studio is a good choice. For a free software it has pretty advance features.
  12. It was probably an old on. Spotted bay bass grow very slowly that one was quite large. They live to around 9 years of age and max sizes around 5lbs. So that is quite slow. There are 2 other bass speices that I catch and they get quite large. Sand Bass and Calico. In order of fight Calico, Spotted bay, and Sand. But spotied bay bass that size put an awesome bend on the rod. It's addicting just like largemouths.
  13. I don't typically were one. I have never had a problem. But I store the life jacket behind my seat and I can get to it quite quickly if needed. I am generally a very good swimmer so I don't worrier to much. I also fish quite close to the docks so I can always go to them for safety. But yes I agree with you that maybe I should have had one on for the video. I don't fish in wadders in salt water also to allow me to swim easier if needed. I will in the future were a life jacket in the videos thanks for the input. The fish I caught is called a spotted bay bass. They are awesome game fish. They are native to Southern California bays and Baja. If you every get a chance to fish for them I highly recommend it.

  15. That's crazy good deerhairdan. Also Mike I really like that fire ant you tied. That is a really simple but good looking pattern.
