Found this on a Russian site. Haven't tied a Rogue style body in a while; if you're not up for the Carnage method, it makes an acceptable product.

 

 

hook Dai Riki 135 #8

thread/rib - UTC 140 black

abdomen - 1mm foam yellow

wing case/head - 1mm foam black

thorax - dubbing yellow

wing - Congo Hair white

legs - deer hair dyed dark dun

 

fold a piece of foam in half; cut at an angle, with the folded end at the narrowest point

insert needle into the folded end; mount needle in the vise, start thread

fold foam forward, take 2 soft loops, pull firmly and take a few more wraps

pull foam back, split the uprights with the thread and take a few wraps forward

At this step: hold the body against the hook to determine placement, brush shank with Super Glue and tie in; trim

I tie a bit of foam to the hook shank, then superglue etc. The foam to foam really holds well

Great looking fly BTW

Easier to create a tapered body using the Carnage method; skipped the dubbed thorax.

A bit more involved than stuff like CDC & Elk or X-Caddis but it'll float until it's chewed up or broken off. If I get to Yellowstone and go in the West side, I'll give it a try.

hackle - partridge
