    My Crab

Hey, question. How do you delete a photo from the gallery? This is my Crab. I had seen a photo of this fly and thought it was cool. It works great in the water that is stirred up or on a dark or over cast day. It's about three inches across. The eyes are 30 lb test about an inch long folded in half and melted the ends. Nothing special about the thread, we use regular sewing thread sealed with clear finger nail polish. The body is just hot glue blobbed on, and flattened out. The legs are just pieces for an old jig skirt. Seems like everything we fish for has teeth and flies are expendable and can be made in 5 minutes or less, so we don't get concerned about using special materials.

    HI to All

I'm glad to now be a member and hope to contribute a few things from Sunny South Florida. I have been tying for some years and now my 8 year daughter is now tying with me. I am trying to teach her how to cast now and have had to build her, her own rod for her size. Not, a problem as I have been building all types of rods for years. Had to stop after getting married (my stuff took up to much space), some of you may know what I mean! We hope to be posting photos of some of our creations soon. We try not to follow set patterns, as we just use what ever kind of hook and material that's around. When I was younger I worked Lion Country Safari running the Reptile exhibits almost 27 years ago. There I started collecting feathers and have had many birds and parrots and have a massed thousand of feathers. Great to be here with you, CJB.
