Guest Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Just to let everyone know I am in the planning stages of a new feature for FTF's Beginner's Corner. I hope to release a series of video tutorials specifically designed to aid beginner fly tyers. The videos will cover step by step instructions on tying a variety of patterns from streamers to dries. At this point I plan on shooting, producing, editing the videos myself but if anyone is interested in being a part of this project please let me know because I will need all the help I can get. I am specifically interested in anyone willing to record themselves tying some patterns. I hope to acquire some video editing software soon so any raw footage would be acceptable; 8mm, VHS, miniDV...etc. I will hopefully be able to transform the raw footage into a format that we can use. If anybody has a "wish list" or ideas for any patterns that should be tied in this format just reply with the patterns and I will keep track of them to see what I can do. At this point I am crossing my fingers and hoping that our server can stand up to the abuse of having so many videos being downloaded....we will just have to wait and see. My goal is to one day have a very large library of videos that will help teach you how to tie almost any pattern you can imagine but for now I plan on sticking with the basics; buggers, clouser, pheasant tail...etc. Any feedback, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. SwampHunter 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2005 This will be great for folks that can access videos on the net. I run an old computer on a 56K dial-up.... basically the only service I can get out here in the country without breaking the bank. For folks like me that can't download videos, would a VHS or DVD be available for purchase? This would be the best option for me. As for patterns I would suggest basics for fishing each type of water and for each species of fish......... warm water: Bass, panfish & such. Just my thoughts.
