  3. I know you're all very interested in updates....... Just to let you all know, I have not done anything with this situation yet since I tried to fiddle around with it Sunday night. I have been so swamped at work that I really don't have time to write this response let alone call down to Florida. I will keep you posted but I have to admit that it's not my 100% top priority right now. Things are waaaaay hectic on the job and I really need to keep focussed on that right now. I will get to it, it just make take a few days. I will keep you posted as to what happens. Thank you for all the input. Let me just say, I LOVE MY RENZETTI TRAVELER VISE and I like the Renzetti company very much. I was just curious if it ever happened to anyone else. Thank you, Brinx
  4. Hey everyone, I have a really old Renzetti Traveler. I think I got it back in 1994. Been tying on it all this time. Yesterday I was tying at the Expo and late in the day the rotary seized up on me and it would not spin inside the hole through the post. Today I sprayed some WD-40 at both ends of the rotary rod both at the threaded end and on the jaws end as well as I took the little screw out that the post screws onto and sprayed some up in there. After applying the WD-40, with some EXTREME effort, I was able to manhandle about a 1/2 turn of rotary. Anyone else have this happen to them? Anyone have any advice. I believe there's supposed to be a lifetime warranty on all Renzetti's, right? Do you think I'm just gonna have to send it in to them and have them take care of it? Thanks, Brinx
  5. Thanks for the heads up BFR. I didn't realize it. Sorry to duplicate. I'm sort of responsible for show promotion and was asked to post on any bulletin boards I was aware of. I guess I should have looked through the listings a little better first. Please accept my apologies. Brinx
  6. Update on Brinx

(12/25)Well, John/Brinx made it through surgery just fine Friday, he is doing well and is staying at the hospital for about 5 -7 days, he's pretty sore, but still has his sense of humor. He had to have his colon resectioned, due to colon cancer, for those of you that may not be aware of what's going on. They removed 2 ft of bowel and are sending it for testing so they'll know what type of cancer they are dealing w/ and whether or not it has spread to the surrounding lymph nodes. Surgeon seemed optimistic, so hopefully all will go well with the testing. A thousand thanks for all the kind words, well wishes, and prayers, they were/are well recieved and MUCH appreciated. We can do all things through Him. Thanks again, Ladybrinx (12/26) He has been doing really well, they have him up and walking about 3 times a day, and yesterday he was able to sit up in a chair for the first time. He's still in quite a bit of pain, but it really is a major surgery, so I think that is to be expected. He probably won't be sitting in front of the PC anytime soon, but I know it's killing him not to. He wasn't doing as good this morning, but I think it was because he overdid his walk this morning before I got there. He said he made it all the way to the end of the hall and back, and then he had to stand while they changed the bedding on his bed. So by the time they were done he had be standing for a good little bit, and he just felt really nauseous after that. When I got there he looked a little green. They are taking good care of him, and all his bloodwork and temperature has been normal, so doc thinks he just was up for too long. I'm hoping he'll feel better when I go back this evening. He was pretty talkative yesterday, and has had many visitors, I'll try to keep ya'll updated, I'm so tired by the time I get done running around everyday, I don't usually feel like sitting in front of this screen, but I know ya'll are wondering, so I'll do my best. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. (12/27) Talked to Brinx on the phone this morning, will go visit later, he sounds better this morning and said he is feeling a bit better than yesterday, hopefully he'll stay that way today. I was really worried about him yesterday. So far that's all the updates for now. I'll post more when I can. Ladybrinx
  8. That's cool. Some of my tying buddies from my club said they'd come up and tie flies with me while I'm in. Remember, if it's after Tuesday, you may want to call first as they say the average is 5 days in and Tuesday would be the 5th day. Thanks huge. That's really cool of you. Brinx
  9. Thank you everyone. I want you all to know how much I appreciate the support and the well wishes. Remember, I really posted this so you may all be more aware and consider taking some action for yourselves and your families. Please consider getting yourselves checked out. I only hope that one day I could be able to return even a fraction of the kindness I've been shown here and the other boards I visit. This flyfishing world we live in is truly a special place. Thank you all. Very sincerely, Brinx
  10. Flyfishenvy, Thank you for the sentiments. It's tremendous the support I've been receiving. Yes, it will be at Sparrow. I'm supposed to report at 8:00a.m. and the surgery will be at 10:00a.m. I'll try to have my wife post results for me. Thanks, Brinx
  11. "Sounds like you've got the right attitude to beat it I know thats a sensitive area to talk about with some people, but can I ask what the symptoms were?" No problem OLB, I have no problem answering these questions. However, I'd rather do it one on one as it's a little bit rough in description and may not be the most appropriate place to post it in an open forum. If you, or anyone would like to know, please feel free to pm or e-mail me. I'm more than willing to talk about it. Thank you for your concern and interest. Brinx
  12. Hello everyone, I don't know if this will get moved to another board or not, but it's true.....I will be away from the tying bench for awhile. Here's the deal.... I recently started having some symptoms and went to my doctor of which he scheduled me for a colonoscopy. I went to find out the results of my colonoscopy and was told that I do, in fact, have colon cancer. I’m going to try to answer a lot of the questions most of you will have and at the end of it, you will know everything I know. First of all, as I said….yes, I do have Colon Cancer. The tumor is located extremely low in the colon and they will perform surgery to remove a section of the colon and then sew the two ends back together. Once the tumor is removed they will test it to find out if it has spread into the lymphnodes or not. If it has, chemotherapy is absolutely necessary. If it has not, the Oncologist may still choose to do Chemo anyway as I am a young “fit” (don’t laugh) guy as an aggressive approach to make sure there isn’t anything anywhere else. This is often done with young men to assure them the most years ahead of them as possible. For example, if it’s not in the nodes of a 70 y/o man they probably wouldn’t do Chemo. There’s a good chance they will in younger men even if it’s not in the nodes. My surgery is scheduled for Friday December 23rd. I don’t know what time yet. I will be in the hospital for 5 days. After which I will be out of commission for 2-3 weeks. They say that I should be able to start working, probably on a part time basis, at the end of the 2-3 weeks working my way into full time. Full recovery from the surgery should take about 6 weeks. They tell me the size of the tumor really doesn’t matter as it’s all about whether or not it’s in the lymph nodes. When I asked about how long it has been there, they indicated it could be as long as 8 years I could’ve had “something” in there. That means I could’ve been as young as 29 with something going on. Probably started out as a polyp and just grew over the years into a tumor. Nobody anywhere can have any idea about what caused it. They also have no way of knowing how long it’s actually been cancerous. It probably was not cancerous to begin with and at some point transitioned to cancer. O.k., now that I have your attention, I’m going to step up onto my soap box now. I ask you to please get yourselves checked. This means to see your doctor and schedule a colonoscopy. This is the only way they can know if there’s anything in there or not. It’s possible I could’ve had something in me from the time I was 29 so age does not matter. I know they say you should have them done yearly once you’re 40. I’m 37 and have had it for who knows how long. If I had done something even a couple years ago, who knows…..it may not have been cancerous. It’s an unbelievably easy, completely painless procedure. There is absolutely nothing to fear about it. Only good can come out of having it done. You owe it to your families to find out. Please take the time to schedule a colonoscopy. Thank you all for taking the time to read this. I know it was long. With God by my side, I will get through this and will return a better, stronger John. I will of course keep you updated as I and my family go through things. Merry Christmas to all of you, here’s to a prosperous new year and great tying season. Just save a place for me on the river, I'll have the waders on in no time. John
  13. Wicked, I didn't see an extra pair when I packed up. I'll take a second look through my stuff though. To tell you the truth, I haven't unpacked anything since that day. Man do I need to sit down at the vice again real soon. I'd love to go to the Northcoast show. To tell you the truth, I've almost had an in to tie there for a couple years now. Just an awful long ways for me to be away for the weekend leaving a wife with 4 kids (2, 4, 8 & 11) at home. Maybe once they get older. The 2 older ones have been tying since they were 5. Maybe in a couple years the oldest one will be old enough to go with me and lessen the load on mama. Talk to you all later, Brinx
  14. Ah yes, that's the guy. Thank's tons for showing that to me Wicked. I think you should change your name from the "Wickedcarpenter" to the "Wickedweaver". I'm going to feature that at our next meeting. I looked up the Dungeon to find that stuff too. Man, it's cheap stuff isn't it. You da man!! Brinx
  15. It was great to meet everyone I met from here on the site. I didn't know that many of you were even gonna be there. I had a blast. Please forgive me but I can't remember which one of you it was that showed me "the weave." HOLY COW!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU. It was a great day. By the way, you may all want to get in on the ground floor of this, rumor has it that Ridderbos is giving his flies away for $2.00 apiece. A total steal. He's taking orders now. John, I'm still rolling on the floor over that one. One thing I realized on Saturday is that I've spent too much time away from the board. I definitely gotta hang out more. Thanks guys!! Brinx
