looking for a book

Recommended Posts

I'm not the most up to date person on all the bugs trout like to munch on and was wondering if anyone could recommend a book that discusses aquatic insects, specifically those on the northeast and Ontario. Just want to learn the different lifecycles, species and habitats. Thanks for any input!

If you don't mind a scientific approach, with lots more biology than fishing, try W. Patrick McCafferty - Aquatic Entomology: The Fisherman's and Ecologist's Illustrated Guide to Insects and Their Relatives ISBN-13: 978-0867200171

Bug Water, and Handbook of hatches are great books, just have to read and sift through things to find the local hatches around your area. That book that Jam linked is amazing...but extremely hard to find, had a friend with a copy and got to leaf through it.

I did not realize it was for Ontario, further east is Quebec. I will fish along the St. Lawrence and i have seen the Western shores. What river or system you fishing at what time of year will determine this. Some sweet books mentioned. Algonquin is also a very interesting area. So is lake of the woods.

Don't mind at all, but does anyone have a copy that they're mind lending to me, or even selling? All the issues I'm seeing online are pretty pricey.
