mikechell 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2013 I think this will catch a lot of fish. Definitely mimics a crayfish and everything will try to eat a crayfish. Since I fully believe the fish don't truly care ... my only criticism is just for discussion. Based on my observations: 1. Crayfish crawl forward when feeding or just moving. The antennae extend forward to detect the environment. 2. Crayfish "run" by propelling themselves backwards with their tails. The antennae extend forward to streamline and allow farther movement from the point of flight. 3. The only time crawdads fold their antennae to the rear is when they are in fighting or defensive stance with pinchers out and head raised. Since the hook eye is at the tail, the most likely scenario you'll mimic is the flight mode, and the antennae should be straight to the front. As I stated, I don't think the fish will be so critical. Tie up a bunch of these, as I believe you'll be replacing this fly after it gets crushed a few times by hungry fish. Oh, I didn't vote, because you didn't really give choices. If you get it to the fish with a fly rod, it's a fly not a lure. I don't like rubber kits for flies, myself.
