zug buggin 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Hey guys I'm in the deep south and recently devoted myself to learning more about Ephemeroptera. I'm finding tons of great info at the various Entomology sites, but I need a field guide WITH PICTURES of Mayflies instead of drawings. Does on exist? If so can I get some recommendations
Bryan Wright 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I swear I remember seeing something like that but I can't for the life of me think of what it was. If I remember I will let you know.
rockworm 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Back in the early '80s Caucci and Nastasi put out a neat, small fieldguide called Instant Mayfly Identification Guide. It contained layman-friendly keys and photos of nymphs and adults. I don't know if it's still available. And I'm sure some of the species names have been changed since then. That edition is out of print, Caucci and Nastasi have just released The Mayfly Guide: Quick and Easy Steps to Identifying Nymphs, Duns, and Spinners I saw it at Borders for about $27.00 I'm going to pick that up when the wife isn't paying attention
