For you stillwater guys who have tried tying balanced flies which style to you like to use- Add length/weight beyond the eye of the hook with a pin and bead or like this: shown in this video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=S_6sn7ooL80 or create a new eye using wire leader or mono loop to replace the eye like this http://www.flippr.ca/bob/TYGerLeader.pdf BTW the video shows a nice use of simi seal

I have been lucky to have fished Alaska, Zimbabwe, several trips to Argentina, multiple Salt Trips to Mexico but remain hungry for more.

I keep swiveled blades in my fly box. You can add them to any fly by just adding them to your loop knot. I string 4-5 of them on a bare hook to hold them in the flybox.

It looks great! If fish get picky try trimming 1/2 to 2/3 the tail material. For real picky fish do a CDC wing. You can mix a little Para Post material between layers of CDC for a more durable fly. Good Pic as well Dan

I ordered some hackle and fur from them several years ago and was very pleased with what I received. Good luck getting your stuff or a refund. Hard times these days. Our only real flyshop in Phoenix closed this year.

Thanks! Great video. I can hardly wait for my trip to the Green this spring. Something new I have had mixed results with the orange on Lafontaines BWO halo emerger. A few days it really seems to be the ticket, most days I get too many refusals. Have you tried more natural colored tails on the Provo or Green to compare? Thanks to all for the info. The Norlander videos are good. While focused on their vice still useful methods and ideas. The book by the Beatty's did not have great reviews on Amazon. Apparently it is fairly basic info. And since rotary is a motion subject is somewhat limited by the use of print. Would love to hear other reviews by veteran tyers. Keep the suggestions coming. ps I find it interesting how much time we discuss "which rotary vice" on here but don't have much to say on effective use. Maybe I am imagining there is more to it than just winding stuff more efficiently, neater and faster????

Just bringing up this old thread for one of my favorite patterns. This has worked very well for bass and large bluegill in my local lakes. The black light and Baitfish angel hair have worked well for me. Thanks again for a great pattern!

I am looking for good web resources, videos etc that will help me transition to rotary tying. I have been tying for over 30 years and am finally getting a true rotary vise. I tie a wide variety of flies but anticipate mainly use the rotary for trout and smallmouth patterns. Hoping to learn some new tricks and be a more efficient tier. I would like to start with stuff on the web but would happily buy a DVD if it was worthwhile. Thanks for your help. Dan PS if I missed a similar thread in my searches please point me there!
