JAMAL 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2016 My current best pattern. I bought some china fly because it is so cheap and dump it in my drawer. After few years I stumble upon it. Since I have used up all my flies in a recent Malaysia trip. I decide to use it. it is so effective in salt water, so I copied it. even garfish attacking it. but it is difficult with size 3 to hook garfish . So on my next trip I reduce the hook size to 10. But no fish bite. So I return with a hook size 3 again, now the fish attack.

mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2016 Nice looking streamer, Jamal. Gar are hard to hook, no matter what hook you've got. Very little "loose flesh" to set a hook into. Thin, long jaws that turn and open, letting the hook go. Once in a while, you get lucky and get one of the few places where a hook can penetrate.
