Yep they work great on a fast sink line with short leader too.

For some reason I'd always imagined you with a Mrs flytire. Funny how you form images of people from a small snippet of their life online.

Thanks for the info PT. All this entomology over my head but looks like a general midge pattern in the olive, brown will imitate a lot of different forms. Good enough for a low tech-er like me...the UV resin killed the look over the d rib so gotta do that different. I like the way it gives translucence to the bugs. The brite green translucent look is what I wanta get...

A guy on the Arkie site showed this for a good way to get what I want.

The difference with the UV resin is that you need a very very small amount. Use a fine needle tip to rub a small amount down the fly. I prefer thinned sally H for this type of fly as it is cheaper, easier and same result.

Carl, nice pattern, and it will surely work.

Here are a couple of my recent patterns for fishing in the surf.  Heavily weighted with 25 to 30 wraps of .020 lead wire.  I already know they work.  Last week was my first attempt with the fly rod in the surf.  I still have a lot to learn about reading the beach and surf, but I am catching a few fish, even got a Sheephead on the pearl minnow pattern.

I like the wooly feeler crab/shrimp/buggers.

Haha, your poor fish, having an invader in their midst.
