  1. Any of the Martin "Tuna Cans" (60, 61, 62, and 63) would work fine on a 4 wt. Martins were my 'go to' reels back in the day...for various reasons I had put the fly rod down for several years and am now getting back into it- imagine my surprise (more like horror) to find they're out of business; E-Bay, however, is a wonderful thing.
  2. Hello everybody; my first post and I get to be helpful. Matt, go to this site: http://spirainternational.com/ . Jeff Spira is a Certified Marine Architect who designs his boats specifically with the home- builder in mind. All of his designs are engineered to use Lumberyard/Homecenter materials (lumber/deck screws) as they are intended to be encapsulated in Epoxy resin as well as two layers of 6 oz. Fiberglass cloth on the outside of the hull. I'm going to build one of these myself (the Mackinaw, just waiting on my tax return) in the next couple of weeks. Believe me, I did a lot of online research before settling on Jeffs' designs (and I have no connection with his company) and I think you can't go wrong here. He not only has designs ranging from 13 to 17 feet long, he also has a series of Drift Boats specifically for Mid-western waters. Anyway, check out his site and good luck whatever you decide.
