Mosquito

Great, simple and good looking fly. Well tied

Thanks a lot ;)

It is a simple pattern but still not easy to find a good picture of the Mosquito - at least I found only two good ones as a reference.

I do like to database here so I felt I should add something myself from time to time.

I'm tying for two years now - still a newcomer and my main focus at the moment is to work on simple patterns and trying to do them as perfect as I can :yahoo:

Cheers!

I am in my second tying year also. The most important thing I have learned, is to use materials sparsely. And there is no substitute for good quality hackles.

Here are some Mosquito images I have collected, I hope they are of some use to you.

Rich.

Nicely tied B) That's a great dry fly for trout.

My biggest brookie was from a mosquito fly, tied with moose hair (one light, one dark) for the body.

I don't have any pictures of a mosquito fly, but I gave up a bit of blood for these pictures...

wow - great pictures - I did have problems finding reference pictures of the dry fly not the insect - sorry for my poor English - but those images are very helpful too!

Thanks a lot!

Just tied my first attempt at a Mosquito pattern, it's a bit different to the standard patterns but may give you some more ideas. I call it 'Megamos'. Pattern Here
