  1. I'm in, pattern to be announced.
  2. I was there for a few hours, it was pretty fun. I liked the marlboro show much better because there seemed to be more seminars and presentations. Not as many vendors either. It would have been nice seeing someone with a good selection of waders for sale, my mom was looking for a pair and there were no bootfoots to be found. On a high note, I did get a mass of fly tying stuff from Cote's for like 12 bucks, and looking at whats it the bag it's unbelievable. Also, the guy with the kayaks and grey raddisson canoe convinced my dad to buy a one man canoe :headbang: . So now we have a new toy coming tomarrow. Overall, it was a good time, well worth the price of admission and the hour drive. Cheers, Mr. Jingles
  3. just what the title says. I was always under the impression that they didn't, but supposedly they do? cheers, Mr. Jingles
  4. I'll be there saturday, not for the competition, just to browse around. If you happen to see a tall kid with red and black checkered shoes, say hey. Cheers, Mr. Jingles
  5. ust putting out the idea. Kind of want to try it, I found a nice little campground. http://www.campvermont.com/battenkill/ check out the brochure, there's a picture of it being literally on the water. Just wanted to see if there was any interest, if we could get a group together it might be cool. Plus, the museum of fly fishing is in Manchester, and so is the Orvis home shop tongue.gif tongue.gif I was thinking end of may, maybe for a weekend or a week, I'm not particularlypartial to either. Let me know what you guys think. Cheers, Mr. Jingles

  7. Eh, probably shouldn't cut the tail. In my expierence it doesn't end up looking as good as if you left it alone. It takes away from the taper, and someone on this website said "There are no straight lines in nature". Otherwise, good job, looks better than what i was doing when I started. cheers, Mr. Jingles
  8. I'll most likely be at the Wilmington show. I don't know, I kind of liked the Marlboro show. Then again, that was the first show I've ever been to. I thought it was well organized, but I thought it was a pain in the arse to have to switch buildings(not in walking distance for my father, bad leg), and parking was kinda tight, but not too bad if you were willing to walk(not in the cards, see previous aside). Pretty interesting though, good information. A lot of outftters trying to sell trips which was of new interest, except looking at the pictures inthe pamphlets(no way I'm going anywhere outside of the Northeast in driving range, I'm a high schol student saving for college). I liked all the seminars, Jack Smola gave a pretty good general talk. So yeah, hopeflly I'll make it out to the wilmington show, and hopefully I fall into some money, otherwise walking amongst the vendors is going to be so painful . I'll post a thread to see who's attending when it gets closer to the date. cheers, Mr. Jingles

    New House

Buy me a plane ticket and give me a room and I'll preform the exorcism =P. Congrats on the new ginormous house, atleast by my standards. Cheers, Mr. Jingles
  10. I bet on anything you can bet on. High school basketball games, hockey, baseball, football it doesn't matter. I keep it to 5-10 bucks a bet, just to keep it friendly. I'm going seahawks with this one. I think my boy Hasselbeck, who I saw play high school ball, is going to overcome the hype. I think the Steelers are going to come in over confident, with Detroit supposedly being a "temporary Steelers Town". The seahawks are going to come out shooting, get to a early lead of say 10-14 points, pittsburgh will come back second half, make trhings interesting, but the final score will be a margin of less than 10 points in favor of the sehawks. Atleast thats the way I see things. Cheers, Mr. Jingles
  11. Seriously, a fly tyer walking into a fly shop is like a crack head walking into a crack house. You know what you came for, you'll probably get it, but with unfortunately you might leave with something else you don't need, but it's seems like you do. I walked into Natick Outdoor Store in MA for backing on a new reel. 6 bucks! not a bad deal I say to myself. Then while he's putting it on, I get to looking at the materials. Need a new hackle plier, add it to the basket. Deer hair labeled "comparadun deer hair", gotta see if it's worth the money, add it to the basket. Minnow maker tubing? whatever, add it to the basket. browsing the threads...grey 8/0 and some nfty looking vinyl stuff, that would make a good nymph, add it to the basket. 10 minutes later I have close to 20 dollars in materials, + the six dollars for the backing. Let this be a lesson to you. The longer you browse the more you buy! Not that I don't mind giving my money to afly shop, the deserve it. cheers, Mr. Jingles
  12. I like my Orvis TLS Tip flex 9.5 alot too, I have a 4 weight. Picked mine up off ebay for 202.50 + 10 dollars or so for shipping a couple months ago, so good deals are out there =P. I also have a tfo, but can't really relate the two because there two different line weights and cast a bit different. Both are good rods. I also recently picked up an elkhorn fly rod 10 weight at the fly fishing show. Let me tell you, for the price, this thing is a cannon. Check em out www.elkhornflyrods.com Cheers, Mr. Jingles
  13. let me see...how about this Caddis curved hook size 12-18,Tan 6/0 thread 1. slip on a gold bead of appropriate size(basically make sure you can get it on the hook, and that it isn't too big) 2. start thrad, wrap down the bend of a hook a bit to give the fly a curved shape. 3. Tie pheasant tail fibers for a tail, aproximately the length of the shank of the hook(the part you tie on) these should be angled down. 4.wrap thread forward, take the ends of the pheasant tail you used for the tail and wrap them towards the eye of the hook, most of the way up and tie off. 5. a small clump of chickabou or cul de canard grey looks nice tied in as a wing. 6.slide bead back toward the phesant tail covering those wraps tying it down 7. Move thread to in front of the bead near the eye of the hook, make a neat head and tie off. This fly was in one of the more recent fly tyer magazines, under beginner's corner-better beadsmanship the cover's main article is about grading hackle, other than that, I can't tell you much more about the issue. pick it up, it has lots of useful patterns and is very inspirational. Cheers, Mr. Jingles
  14. You might also want to look at line type. I know Scientific Anglers makes a streamer express taper, might be something worth looking into. I second TFO rods, I have two myself, cheap and affordable, especialy for me, a high school senior. Although if you can find a good deal on ebay I'd look into the mid priced sages, I cast a few at a show recently and I liked them as much as the TFOs, if not better. Hope this helps atleast a little. Cheers, Mr. Jingles
  15. Don't you hate when the shots they give you for pain hurts more than the actual pain its for? I got a large piece of glass in my foot two months ago, the novacane in the bottom of my foot hurt ten times more than the 2" deep cut in my foot, and the gave me like 5 different shots. Modern medecine for ya, eh? Cheers, and get better soon, Mr. Jingles
