I was working a split shift. Sat down for a bite to eat and watch some TV.

My show was preempted by the first tower on fire and say it was hit by a plane.

Watched the second one get hit. And then watched them both fall.

Working an evening shift, 4 to midnight, and living with my sister and her husband after my divorce.

That morning, my brother-n-law woke me early, to tell me what had happened.

At that time, I figured we'd be seeing more terrorist attacks over the following years. I was sure those towers were just the beginning.

I'm very surprised that we haven't. I'm still not sure why we haven't.

Across the Potomac, a few miles upriver from the Pentagon at another's DoD agency. Didn't leave work until about 6 PM that day; the thing I remember most is how absolutely empty the roads were driving home - if you've ever experienced Rush Hour in the D.C. area, you'd know how eerie that was.

Home fixing & eating breakfast while it looked like a new movie trailer on TV. Nothings changed since due to being cross conditioned way beyond therapy cognitive dissonance acceptance of this Christian Nation liberal Islam national religion where even shoot up the schools kids "see" that "do your job, just don't do too much of it" immaculate drug conception KKK churchstate cops lynching enforcement gets Americans killed emulating those burning Bush's patriot act of 9/11 where a 21 gun salute would just baptize thine eyes of the republic like the thieving US Constitution - old glory arsonists they the master race subconsciously admit too.

Was headed back to the main facility at work after going on a road call and my wife called me to let me know.. Once at the facility we all went to the break room periodically to watch the news on the tv in there.

I was getting ready for Work, preparing to walk out the door, when the 1st plane hit. Called my boss, who was at a jobsite, to let him know. Took the B & W TV to work & watched the rest that day.

I was a senior in high school. I tutored an elementary student and at the elementary school office some people were gathered around a small tv. The first plane had just hit.

I was in Bend Oregon. I walked into the Costco and it was on all the TVs. At first I thought it must be a movie with great special effects. It took a minute for it to sink in that it was real.

Unconscious. Only a year old and I was under the life having some minor surgery when it happened. My mother was in the waiting room watching it on the news.

It's one of those things where you remember every single thing about the day. Kind of like when Reagan got shot or when the space shuttle challenger blew up. I was at work welding and one of my co workers had headphones on listening to music and he told us a plane hit one of the towers. We figured it must have been a small prop plane accident or something at first, then a short while later he came up and said another plane hit so we knew right then what was going on. I went home and grabbed my 29" TV (big bulky CRT style tv's back then lol) and we spent the rest of the day with the TV on the workbench while we worked so we could keep up with what was going on.

Another thing I remember vividly was the lack of planes in the sky due to all the planes being grounded and then seeing some military jets every once in awhile. I live about 20 miles from Selfridge AFB and I remember just how erie it was to not see a single commercial plane in the sky but to see a pair of fighter jets every once in a while streaking across the sky.

I was just about to say ... the only "silver lining" on the 9-11 cloud was the beautifully clear sky. No man-made streaks across the blue.

I remember that evening at work I was outside talking to a supervisor during break. He said people didn't know where President Bush was. All they knew was he wasn't in DC.

About that time something caught our attention. We look up and there is what looks like a large passenger plane with several military escorts.

At least at that moment we knew the President was high in the sky's above North West/Central Indiana.

I was home from work that day, caught it all on TV after the first crash into the Towers. Funny thing is I also was absent from HQ the day that Kansi shot up our guys at the entry gate. Need I also say I was discharged from the Army just after the Bay of Tonkin Resolution..... The evidence suggests I have a knack for avoiding catastrophy.

Talking about "clear skies" reminds me a guy from TU who was on a hunting trip Alaska at the time. He and a friend were left at a drop camp for a few days but got caught there much longer during the no-fly period, All they saw were some high flying military aircraft racing around and, as luck would have it, their sat phone went down so for a time the worst case -- WW III-- explanation was on the table.

Was living in Oldham near Manchester at that time. Heard on the radio as I was driving home from a business training day. What brought it home was taking my dog for her morning walk the next morning, and seeing "Bin Ladan" carved in the bowling green in the park. (Oldham has a huge Muslim population).

I can understand their frustrations (That does not imply agreement with, or any support for, their actions). If you are a Asian Muslim teenager at school in Oldham, there are two possible career paths open to you. You can work in a takeaway, or drive a taxi. Doesn't matter what you do at school, or how hard you work at doing something else, that is all there is. I suspect I would be looking for something else with only those options. It is all to easy to get recruited by these groups if that is the future you are facing.

There needs to be a lot of thinking and self examination if we are ever really going to get to a point of reasonable security. We all have different definitions of freedom and democracy, and they are all right, for each of us. The problems start when we start imposing them on others. What is democracy in your country may not suit mine. We could do with a set of minimum standards that is universally agreed, like "No torture". If a regime measures up to them, we stay the hell out of their business. Problem is we haven't even grown up enough as a species to do that. I rather think we owe it to all the victims of this conflict to try to do so.

Respectfully,

C.
