I am about to start on a 9ft. 4 wt. and wondering what the rule of thumb is for the number of guides. One source I have shows 11 guides and another shows 10 guides. Somewhere along the line I seem to remember that the general rule is rod length plus one, so a 9 ft. would take 10 guides, an 8ft. 6inch would take 10, a 7ft. would take 8, etc. Any input or clarification would be greatly appreciated.
