Good morning. I am new to the rod building world. Have been tying jigs and making lures for many years and became bored with it. My dad has been building rods for quite some time and has given some to me and my son. I want to make one for him as he gives most of his away. I have the basic hand wrapper, ordered a couple cheap e-glass kits to practice, and today I am purchasing the rod finish. Is it best to use high build or lite build starting out? My dad could probably answer most of my questions but I don't want him knowing I've ventured into rod building until I make him one worthy of fishing. I've been browsing this site for many weeks to learn what I can and am overwhelmed at the knowledge found here. Looks like a great forum and I'm excited to learn all I can!
