RBF: Purchasing a quality blank-Recommendations
Posted 10 April 2014 - 01:24 PM
A friend of mine has requested that I build him a cane rod. This will be for adirondack trout on small to medium streams and ponds. I am thinking a 3/4 wt x 7'-6" to 8'-0" as being a good starting point. Medium action.
I am looking for a quality blank/taper to build on. This will be a functional build and not heirloom quality. Cost is a definite factor and I am thinking a blank w/ ferrell to be budgeted in the $400-$500 range. (or less if practical)
So....first off...am I in the ballpark for the blank cost?
Any information on who can provide a decent blank in this price range would be most appreciated. I would consider members/sponsors of this forum first....and then other sources.
I have read a number of the previous posts concerning this question. An update on current options and costing would be beneficial to me.
Thanks in advance!
