Is this a Brown Drake?

I found this guy on my car roof and took him to work with me. While I appreciated the company, he seemed happy when released!

It's hard to tell from here but either a Brown Drake or a March Brown. I'd say it's a brown drake though.

It's hard to tell from the pic, are the wings mottled. If not it's not a drake. The body is also pretty slim to be a march brown and again if no mottled wings that's not it. My "guess" would lean towards Isonychia, If the legs are really light then it's a definite.

I agree, it's tough to tell from the pic, but I'd lean toward a brown drake. Here's a few pics of some of the other flies mentioned.

Does something here look pretty close? Ain't "hatch-matching" a blast this time of year when everything happens at dark and about all you can tell is that the flies are kinda' big? Good luck!!

Thats when you check out the grill of your truck the next morning and see for sure what was hatching the previous night al wink.gif
