  1. Hi all, ridderbos3: Thanks John! Although no need to use the "Mr." with me, please call me Mike. We're all equals here! steelyjim: Hey, man, there are no "little people" here. Like I mentioned to John, we're all equals! Harold Ray: Hmm, I wonder if there's a way I can install a hook on the model - now THAT would be some fly! I'll put together just a few quick pics and post 'em. Now, can someone tell me how to post pictures here? willowhead: Hey, I'm either patient or just plain crazy - I tend to think it's the latter! Mike
  2. Thanks to all of your for your warm messages. What a great group! Matt: Thanks Matt! I'll do so. willowhead: Wow! Let's see... your welcome, your welcome, your welcome, your welcome, your welcome and your welcome. I think I covered them all! I don't mean to be flip, I REALLY appreciate your comments - I'm just a little overwhelmed. But, thanx! BTW I'm into my ninth year on the ship. Hull is complete, all masts and yards complete, now into the rigging phase. Yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel! Dave Kline: Thanks Dave, hope yours is (was) too. Isonychia: Thanks John! Yep, I'll be at the salmon section from time to time. I'll check out the other one as well. Harold Ray: Thanks Ray! I hope to become a semi-regular poster on the forum. I say semi because I have so much on my plate these days. But, I will be here! CapeBSalar: Thanks Damian! Hope you and yours had a great Holiday Season as well.
  3. Hi again! Sorry it took so long to reply to all your messages - Holiday Season, you know! I do hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, or just plain Happy Holidays. And Happy New Year to you all! mnorton: That's okay! Hopefully the books will be around for awhile. Flytyer-1: Thanks Stack! Same to you my friend. It was great seeing you at Somerset. Wish we could get together more often. British Mike: Thank you so much, sir! I really appreciate that and it's great to be part of the community of salmon fly tiers. The third book should be out sometime in 2009 - still have a lot of work to do on it! billtiesflies: Hi Bill! Yes, it has been a long haul since Vermont. Still remember that trip with fondness, especially after meeting such gentlemen as yourself. Thanks, sir! edward 1: Thanks so much Edward, really appreciate the compliment! As I said above it's great to be part of such a dedicated group. Sorry it took me so long to join! Redwings1: Thanks Redwings! To be honest, after this third one, heck I wouldn't know what else to write about on salmon flies. But when I said this to my publisher, she said "Well, we'll think of something". So, who knows?? Thanks to you all and it truly is great to be here. Don't ever hesitate to ask questions, seek advice, or just kibbitz. It's what I'm here for! Sincerely, Mike
  4. Hello everyone! I was finally convinced by my good friend John McLain to become a member of the forum. I've been a Classic Salmon Fly tier now for 17 years and have a couple of books out there, currently working on my third (final?) book on the subject. After all these years I finally went to the Somerset fly tying show in New Jersey a few weeks ago for the first time. I drove from my place up to John McLain's and from there we drove to Somerset. Thankfully, our friendship survided the long drive! For me it ended up being almost 3,000 miles in 7 days but it was well worth it. For any of you salmon fly tiers who have not yet been to the show I would strongly recommend it. I may not be a very frequent visitor to the forum because I have so much else going on but I will check in from time to time. Anyway, glad to be here and I wish you all a Happy Holiday Season! Mike
