Adding a little extra something to my favorite fall grub pattern. The fish have been tuning into hot orange lately. When Salmo trutta gets in the mood, adding a dash of orange or amber to my fall patterns does the trick. And a Hippie Stomperish concoction I use that I call the "Vindicator" as an indicator dry that is also effective at drawing strikes.

My favorite jig nymph for the next couple of months. Pulls multi duty as small stonefly or green drake nymph. Who knows what trout think it is but it's been my top producing general searching guide fly for the past month.

An update to the crab patterns that I have been tying for clients headed out to the Permit flats.

This is one that I tie and use a lot. I make many sizes and colors. Hook: #16-18 1x short nymph hook Thread: Gray Tail: Natural dun partridge Rib: Gray thread Abdomen: Stripped peacock herl Thorax: Gary/brown dubbing Wing/Wingcase: Brown goose biots ties along the side and pulled forward and then 1 strand of krystal flash atop each biot. Ice fiber pulled over back of abdomen. Represents the exoskelotan splitting open.

This hook model is not listed in my 2011 UFM dealer catalog. It appears that this is an UMPQUA brand hook and not a Tiemco hook. I wonder who is making these hooks for so many big box vendors such as Orvis, Cabellas etc,. They all have their own "house" brand of hook and this is just another one of those "house" brands that you can slap your own label on. I doubt this was made by Tiemco.
