  1. Hey J. Johnson, I'm pretty well adapted to a baitcaster, and you are right, you will be very lucky to get a good one for under 100 bucks. One thing a buddy of mine does is order Curados off of E-Bay and does any maintenance that they need. So far he hasn't spent more than 70 bucks per reel and none of them needed repairing, they were as good as new. Actually, I have one that he purchased myself and it is sweet. I have a Curado 200B5 5:1 and a Curado 200B super free 6.2:1. Both of them are very nice reels. THe 200B5 is on a custom rod a buddy of mine gave me and the super free is on a 6'6 MH BPS rod.
  2. I've used corn before and caught a lot of little ones, but there's a few home made baits that I use that seem to catch a lot of the big ones, my biggest being 45 lbs. I like using these baits too cause when you mix it up you have a few days worth of bait, all the more reason to stay at the lake for the whole weekend, LOL. A buddy of mine just told be of this other great bait that he used to use a lot that's really cheap to make, all you need other than the bait is one of them long weighted bobbers, not too expensive.
  3. That looks 200% better, LOL. How long did it take you?
  4. Hey Lunk, I'm looking for a starting rod/reel. I want to get one that's fairly decent rather than getting a cheap one. I don't wanna get a cheap one then get a decent one and have to learn all over with one that will cast good. That's what happened to me with baitcase equipment: went with a cheap reel and it broke so I got a good one and had to learn how to fish with a good baitcast reel. If I can come up with the money, I would like to get something that isn't too extreme yet it is still good.
  5. Well dang, I finally found something messier than my bedroom, LOL. My isn't near that bad, but if you asked my mom she would tell you it's the messiest room in the world, I guess I need to let her see this room.
  6. Attatoona is one nice lake, I used to fish there when I was a little fella, about four years old. I used to just cast a cricket and catch whatever was around, crappie, bluegill, bass, catfish, everything. Let me know when and I'll be with you man.
  7. HDS, don't know if we're on the same page here. When I said 2/0 hooks, I was talking about fishing with spinning gear. Down here in GA, the carp have the tiniest lips you have ever seen, not too much bigger than that of a grown crappie. I don't think there's any way that a 6/0 hook could get them, but you have to remember, I'm only 16 and don't know that much about fishing, so I don't know too much, I might be wrong, Redneck.
  8. Hey flytyer, you live near Lake Jackson? I live just up here in Clayton County in Jonesboro. I was just down your way hunting a little while back. I can't wait for the spring to get down there and FINALLY learn how to fly fish, lol. Thanks for the offer, it means a lot to me that somebody would offer their time to help me out. Just let me know when and where and I'm with ya man, Redneck.
  9. I know that this is a fly fishing forum, but I also enjoy fishing for bass with baitcast equipment, my favorite baitcaster being the Curado. How do you guys feel about baitcast verses fly fishing for bass? I'm just getting into fly fishing and I want to know how fly fishing compared to more baitcast. As of now I'm trying to save up for a good fly rod, and before I go out and spend a lot I want to know the comparison of baitcast and fly. Another thing, what are some good fly rods to get for bass, like I said before I am saving up for one and I want to get one that's going to do me some good. Any replies will be greatly appreciated, Redneck.
  10. Hey Jim, I figured that yau'll knew each other and you were just messin with him. I think I worded my original question wrong, what I want to know is where you guys like to fly fish in Georgia. Or, do you fly fish out of a boat? I know that at Allatoona and places like that it's hard to try and fly fish cause of the trees hanging over the water.
  11. What size hook do you like to use when fishing for carp? I know that they have small mouths and when fishing with them with big spinning gear I use maybe a 2/0 hook, so what size for fly fishing?
  12. LOL Jim Thanks for all the tips, they will all be put to use.
  13. Hey HDS, thanks for the info man. If the carp are hitting the water surface, do you think that they will hit a fly?
  14. Hey flytyer, what lakes do you like to fish and how do you like to fish them?
  15. Does anybody know of a good place to fly fish for bass in Georgia? I live in Clayton County, that's just south of Atlanta, and I'm just getting into fly fishing and what better to fish for than bass, so I'm turning my question over to you guys, Redneck.
