  1. I always go to Bennett Spring. Live in the KC area. I will have to try Montauk next trip. Thank you for posting the photos!
  2. Flytire, like others have said, I enjoy looking at your classics! I also enjoy looking at everyone else's flies too. The mix on this site as well as other sites amazes me, from the classics to the downright bizarre. And if you haven't done so already, check out some low vision devices. There are some excellent high power magnifiers out there.
  3. Retired optician. I have worked for optometrists, ophthalmologists, and retail for over 30 years. Prior to that, mortician.
  4. Try a low vision provider. They have many types of magnifiers including higher power readers. You can also hit up your eye doctor. Let them know what you want to use them for and they will tailor the prescription to your needs.
  5. cphubert, as I said, I haven't been back home in 35 years. Capital Lunch was a weekly thing for our family. During my high school years, eating 6 in one sitting was the most I could do. We also used to hit a couple of grinder shops on the Berlin Turnpike.
  6. Guys, thanks so much for the information! For woolies, can the barbs be trimmed shorter? I have several lakes in the area that are stocked with hybrid stripers. Looks like it's time to experiment...
  7. cphubert, I noticed from another post you are from CT. I'm a New Britain native and have been in the Kansas City area for about 35 years.
  8. I bought a small bag of grizzly variant schlappen. I was looking for a cheaper way instead of buying grizzly hackle. Do any of you have any ideas on how to use these? Thanks! Bob
  9. Welcome DaddyD. Blue Springs here...
  10. I still have my Perrine #85 on a Herter 3 piece bamboo rod. Bought the setup from Herter's a little more than 40 years ago.
  11. FishinPhil, I wouldn't mind hitting up some smallies. Used to catch them all the time in Connecticut, but here in Missouri I have to travel about 3 hours south into the beginnings of the Ozarks to catch them. If my memory serves me right, the Yampa River runs through the NW are of CO...
  12. Gorgeous! Thanks for the pics!
  13. I'm already plotting my next excursion to Colorado. I remember a few rivers in NW Colorado from quite a few years ago on a trip to Dinosaur National Monument. Also the Blue River and Green Mountain Reservoir outside of Silverthorne. I asked quite a few people that fished Grand Lake on this trip how'd they do. Only one guy out of about 7 caught a trout, so I don't feel bad at all..
