  1. Art, Mine will be in the mail tomorrow 11/1. Got behind in life a little there for awhile. Jay
  2. I think I'll fish with it, and put the monster steelie I catch with it on the wall.... Jay
  3. Brent, What size is that tied in?? Pretty nice!! Jay
  4. I will be doing some kind of a fluttering baitfish type thing. I was going to go "popper" but decided against. The name of this thing will be coming soon. Toe tags - what do you mean by that? I usually package mine up in the little ziplocks and label each ziplock with my name, name of fly, etc.... Is that the way to go? Jay
  5. My glass bead egg fly is done. It's almost too easy of a tie, but it's an effective winter steelie pattern so I don't feel too guilty submitting it. Looks great in the water. Art, Can we send these in yet, and where are we sending them?? Jay
  6. Art, Where are we with this so far?? Jay
  7. I'm in with a glass bead egg fly!!! Jay
  8. I am in need of finding those smaller sized zip lock baggies for sending flies. I would rather not mail order them. Is there a store (like good ol' Walmart) that I am over looking here?? I know I know....I should have just been saving the ones from various fly tying materials I've purchased? Any help would be appreciated!! Jay
  9. I'm in! Nothing better to do in the fall than tying flies for summer!! Any other "rules" other than the flies be 4 inches? Top water a go? Jay
  10. Yeah. I guess it would have to be two swaps in one essentially. The first would be the swapping of materials as sort of a "grab bag" sort of thing. Then, flies would need to be tied with those materials that you happen to get (nobody will know until their particular materials arrive in the mail). Now what flies are to be tied, amount of different materials each person has to send, and how many will participate would all have to be hammered out. Again, this is just one suggestion. This whole idea you have has some cool potential!!! I'd like to hear some other ideas...... Jay
  11. Swiss straw is my go to. The most interesting I have heard of are Brach's candy wrappers - something about that yellow color I guess. Jay
  12. Are we just swapping "materials" or is there some fly tying happening here? I've never been in a swap like this, so this may be a newbie suggestion. If each participant received anywhere from say 2 to 10 different "materials" randomly, they would have to come up with some sort of creation with the materials.......anything goes! Maybe a few of each pattern??? I don't know......I'm just waiting for the Steelers to play Sunday night! I would just like to be tying something with this......... Jay
