islander727 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2015 Anybody have any information on Tack L Tyers vices? Google search is coming up with nothing! Somebody bought me one for Christmas years back, and I have started tying on it recently. Thanks!

utyer 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 I haven't seen the name on anything since the 1970's. The vise is similar to the OLD Thompson model B and there is a review of that vise here.

johneich 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2018 I just found this when searching for TLT where I used to work, let me know if anybody wants to know more. I realize this is a 3 year old post, Tack - L - Tyers was a store run, and I think started by Mr. Yankee (Spelling i.c.?) It was a retail store fishing/sporting goods store with a wholesale Manufacturing Fly Tying shipping department in Evanston, IL. I worked there in 1974 packing and shipping fly tying kits made by Inez (spelling) and her crew. My major contribution was boxing the kits made by Inez's crew, labeling and filling out the UPS book after school. However I am knowledgeable about the whole operation. I understand the vises were made to Mr. Yankee's specifications at a plant somewhere. The major contribution Mr. Yankee did for Fly Tying was to provide dried - dyed fur which also came from outside sources attached to the skin of the animal and did not smell good in bulk, as received and stored by me. The Inez crew cut the fur off the skin and packaged it into little baggies then assembling them into "kits" with vices and other needed materials which I shipped. They were complete kits for the fly tyer of the 1960's and 70s. I could tell you more, anyone let me know if more information is wanted. John
