feathers5 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2018 It seems kind of strange to me that nobody ever recommends Daiichi Jig hooks when the subject is being discussed. Am I right or just mistaken?
mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2018 Well ... I know I'VE never mentioned them. But then, I haven't ever used them, either.

planettrout 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2018 The Daiichi 4640 and 4647 60 degree jig hooks have a much longer shank than comparable jig hooks from Hanak, Dohiku, etc. They are also barbed. I have used both: PT/TB

whatfly 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2018 They are also barbed. Well, there's a plus !!! Actually, no it is not, especially for those who use them in competition. feathers5: Like planettrout, I've used them, and never had any problems with them, but they are a bit pricey, and that long shank makes the gape look a bit anemic. They are however a nice stout hook which has its advantages over some of the competition. Ultimately I'm unconvinced by the nearly magical qualities many attributed to jig hooks for nymphs, and use them mostly for small streamers, but all else being equal, I have found nothing wrong with Daiichi's offerings. YMMV.
RickZieger 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2018 I use Saber jig hooks from the Fly Shack. Rick
feathers5 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2018 Thanks, guys. I think jig hooks have their place. I read once that scud hooks with a bead automatically ride with the hook point up like a jig. Don't know if that's true or not.
