SBPatt 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2015 Not a whole lot of info on this fly and I didn't have one to dissect/reverse engineer, so I made a few modifications; lots of parts, lots of steps, nothing complicated, nothing hard. The twisted yarn body (see Chuck's Caddis Variant), provides a cool segmented effect. Tied here in salmonfly; change colors/sizes to meet your plecopteraic needs. hook - Tiemco 200 #4 (I know) thread - UTC 140 burnt orange tail - Krystal Flash black body - poly yarn orange overbody - 2mm foam black underwing - Congo Hair dark grey overunderwing - Krystal Flash pearl wing pad - 2mm foam black legs - medium rubber barred orange thorax - Ice Dub peacock black wing - elk hair indicator - foam orange mash barb, start thread; tie in KF past point above barb tie in poly yarn, wrap back to tail twist yarn tight, make a few wraps (continue twisting after every wrap) taper end of foam strip (gap width); tie in extending a bit past bend twist yarn, wrap over foam tie-in, then pull foam back and take a few more wraps repeat again one more time tie off foam; trim clean, stack, measure a clump of Congo Hair and tie in tie in KF, fold back tie in wing pad (gap width) tie in rear legs dub thread, dub thorax; finish where you started clean, stack, measure (extend to foam butt) a clump of elk; tie in, leave butts long tie in indicator pull elk and foam back, cross thread over thorax to eye tie down elk tie in front legs; trim elk butts tie down indicator at eye half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim what needs trimming dorsal ventral Regards, Scott Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
